BIRNAM OAKS ATELIER

My name is Elaine Vallis, creator and kiltmaker at Birnam Oaks Atelier. I have been a competitive highland dancer for 25 years (and counting!)

I have always loved creating things with my hands, and having learned to sew at a young age, I decided to combine this with my passion for highland dance. I started by teaching myself to make traditional hand sewn kilts using the kiltmakers bible, The Art of Kiltmaking.

I now make all types of highland dance and choreography costumes, but my true love will always lie with tartan!​​​​​​​​​
